نشریات آمریکا بر اساس مطبوعات داخلی کنگره فاش ساختند که دو
سناتور آمریکایی ریک سنتورم ( جمهوریخواه ) و جو لیبر من (
دمکرات) نشستی را در کنگره امریکا ترتیب داده اند تا در باره
موضوع نقض حقوق بشر در ایران گفتگو شود.
در این نشست که توسط بنیاد دفاع از دمکراسی برگزار خواهد شد،
از دو دانشجوی ایرانی "علی افشاری" و "اکبر عطری" بعنوان
سخنران و شاهد زنده نقض حقوق بشر دعوت کرده تا در کنار خانم
"فاطمه حقیقت جو" نماینده اصلاح طلب و رئیس فراکسیون دانشجوئی
مجلس ششم سخنرانی کنند. موضوع سخنرانی حقیقت جو "بررسی مشکلات
اصلاح طلبان درون حکومت جمهوری اسلامی" اعلام شده است. علی
افشاری وعطری هردو در گذشته عضو رهبری دفترتحکیم وحدت بوده اند
و حقیقت جو نیز از رهبران اولیه این دفتر.
در دعوتی که از سناتورها و شخصیت‌های مهم آمریکایی برای شرکت
در این نشست بعمل آمده قید شده است که این نشست برای بررسی
حقوق بشر در ایران و جنبش دمکراسی طلبی در ایران و موانع آن
برگزار خواهد شد.
در این دعوت نامه از خانم حقیقت جو بعنوان فعال حقوق زنان –
مدافع مطبوعات و مدافع حقوق بشر- یاد شده که به جرم همین
فعالیت‌ها به 20 ماه زندان محکوم شده است. این نشست در روز دوم
مارس برگزار خواهد شد.
سناتور "ریک سنتورم" طراح قطع کمک‌های دولتی به مراکز دانشگاهی
در امریکا که حاضر نمی شوند از اسراییل طرفداری کنند و همچنین
سناتور "جو لیبرمن" از طراحان حمله به عراق و از مدافعان حمله
نظامی به ایران است. اکنون باید دید افشاری، عطری و حقیقت جو
با چه زبان و استدلالی در برابر این دو سناتور ظاهر خواهند شد
و از منافع ایران و در مخالفت با حمله به ایران دفاع خواهند
کرد.

Please join Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) and Senator Joe
Lieberman (D-CT) for a panel discussion led by some of Iran
’s leading pro-democracy voices. The event, which will be
sponsored by The Foundation for Defense of Democracies and
the Iranian Students for Democracy and Human Rights, will
provide updated information on human rights abuses in Iran
and detail the progress of Iran ’s pro-democracy movement as
well as the hurdles confronting it.
The event will feature Mr. Ali Afshari and Mr. Akbar Atri
each of whom have suffered physical abuse and imprisonment
at the hands of the Islamic Republic for their respective
roles in the Iranian pro-democracy movement. Both are
founding members of the Iranian Students for Democracy and
Human Rights, an organization representing the voices of
Iran ’s strongest democratic movement: the youth.
Ms. Fatemeh Haghighatjoo, a former Iranian parliamentarian
who resigned in protest over her government’s crackdown on
reformers, will detail the problems reformers face within
the government. A longtime defender of freedom of the press
and women’s rights, she was sentenced to a term of 20 months
in prison for “inciting public opinion and insulting the
judiciary.”
This event comes as the Islamic Republic of Iran continues
to squash the freedoms of its citizens by rounding-up,
imprisoning and torturing those who work for democracy. The
briefing will detail important developments in the
democratic movement and provide valuable insight into the
prospects for democracy in Iran .
